Now that beach season is entering its final weeks, you may be wondering how you can bring that shoreline to your own apartment.  Staying at a beach house may inspire you with design ideas that seem impossible to recreate in your own home.  The Apartments of Wildewood are located very close to the shore in St. Mary’s county; having a beach-themed apartment can match perfectly with the surrounding location.  Read on for tips and tricks that will help you bring the beach home.

It’s all about the colors!

A color scheme is going to be the biggest factor in keeping your apartment feeling like a beach.  Use lots of crisp whites and light tan colors to recreate that sandy shore experience.  Wicker furniture is perfect.  Any wood you include should be weathered to give the appearance of driftwood.  Also, throw in a splash of blue or turquoise.  It shouldn’t overwhelm, but it can remind you of sparkling waters.

Beachy decorations

Bowls filled with seashells, paintings of beaches, or boat figurines are great decoration ideas for beach themes.  Incorporate that driftwood wherever you can!  It could be a lamp stand, a side table, an accent piece on a shelf, or anything else.  Wicker should be incorporated into most of the furniture, but can also be used as flower vases or floor coverings.  Just remember to decorate like you’re dressing up a beach house–you might even want to spend your time in Ocean City looking for a few items to use!

Distressed is best

When in doubt, anything distressed is going to remind you of the beach.  Think of chipped white mirror frames, or worn down wicker.  It should look as though it’s been sitting in the sand for a while.  And don’t forget to stay calm when it comes to your curtains.  Obviously, you shouldn’t throw up any torn fabrics.  But sheer whites and flowing cotton is going to give the best effect.  Make sure what you use moves in the breeze.
