Valentine’s Day may be behind us, but that doesn’t mean you should stop expressing your love and appreciation to those around you – or in this case, your apartment! It can be difficult to maintain a clean and healthy apartment among the stress of your daily life. However, living among clutter has a tendency to weigh on us more mentally in the long run as opposed to practicing a few routine cleaning methods throughout the week. Before you start tackling your apartment cleaning to-do, are you sure you have the right cleaning supplies? The Apartments of Wildewood is here to fill you in on some cleaning essentials that will help make the process painless.
Essential Cleaner Solutions
There’s a good chance that you have a bottle of some all-purpose cleaner or disinfecting wipes stashed somewhere in your apartment. Your apartment is made up of several different surfaces though, and some cleaners really aren’t suited for all of them. You should have different cleaners for different surfaces if you want the ultimate clean. For example, all-purpose grease cleaners are great specifically for your stove, countertop and refrigerator door handles. If you are using a standard disinfectant cleaner, you will probably struggle to fight through pesky grease stains on your oven. Additionally, wood cleaners will keep wood furniture polished and free of dust for a longer period of time. When cleaning your bathrooms, it is best to use a cleaner with bleach.
DIY Cleaning Solutions
Does the idea of buying all of those cleaner solutions seem daunting? Good news! You can create some effective cleaning solutions yourself using household elements you might have laying around your apartment. Need a glass cleaner? Mix 2-3 tablespoons of white vinegar with 3 cups of water and viola! Streak-free shine. You can also mix baking soda with lemon juice and create a cleanly scrub for your bathroom or kitchen. Sprinkling baking soda on your carpets before you vacuum is also a great way to absorb odors.
Once you are all set with cleaners, be sure you have a caddy to appropriately store them (see other apartment storage hacks here). Other essential cleaning tools include: rubber gloves, broom, dustpan, mop, toilet brush, vacuum, microfiber duster, spare toothbrush, dishcloths and paper towels. What are you waiting for? It’s time to get cleaning!
