How to Take Advantage of Your Apartment's Fitness Center

Begin with Your Body Weight

Apartment fitness centers tend to vary with the amount of equipment they provided, but they’ve all got one thing in common – limited space. You might not see the wide selection of cardio and strength equipment you’d find at any gym. This allows you to simplify your workout and get back to basics. Try doing squats, lunges, and burpees to burn those calories and strengthen your muscles.

Strengthen Your Core

Trying to find one muscle group that’s easy to shred with no equipment and a frugal amount of space? Your abs and core. If your fitness center has a mat, you can power through bicycle kicks, crunches, and planks to take your six-pack to the max level. If one is available, throw a medicine ball in and add an extra challenge to your workout.

Be Creative

If you don’t want to incorporate any available equipment into your workout, create a workout that hits every section of your body from head to toe. Begin with a round of bicep curls and triceps curls using some hand weights. Sink into a dolphin blank for intervals of 30 or 60 seconds. Then start squatting with a medicine ball in hand to strengthen those legs. Jump on the treadmill or elliptical for a minute in between each strength-training move to allow your heart rate rise, which in part will burn calories.

Invite a Friend

Maybe the hardest part of working out for you is finding the motivation. If so, then consider bringing a friend to assist you with your workout. You help them, and they can help you. Luckily it isn’t hard to find a workout buddy, whether it’s your friend from work or a neighbor.
